Color Grading

Colour grading is the most mystified part of post-production, largely because most of what is published about it is selling something. The LUT pack, the preset, the one-click film look. This course is the opposite of that: a working colourist explaining how images are actually built, why the shortcuts fail, and what the tools are really doing underneath.

It is genuinely advanced. It assumes you can already edit, that you know your way around Resolve's interface, and that you have graded something and been dissatisfied with the result. If you are still learning to cut a timeline, do the DaVinci Resolve course first — this one starts where that one's colour module stops.

Almost all of it is Cullen Kelly, whose channel is the rare case of a professional teaching at professional depth for free. Casey Faris opens the course with the necessary corrective: most bad grading is overcomplication, and knowing that before you learn the deep tools is what stops you from misusing them.

Roughly eight hours of required video, and around thirty-five once the optional lessons are counted. The required path is dense — half-hour lessons on single tools, plus a seventy-nine minute walkthrough of a complete professional setup, conform and delivery. The optional final lesson is nineteen more hours of Resolve mastery, which is a course in its own right and best treated as one.
